Time to nationalize Starlink and take it away from Melon. And sanction this fucker heavily, until it hurts.

In general I agree, but once you start using your private assets to directly influence the outcome of wars, you are now playing in a whole new league.

Terms of service. Elon has rules around Starlink. He wants to protect the use of the satellites. Russia may decide to attack Starlink if it’s being used directly to attack them. THat would allowed under the rules of war. If the satellites are attacked, it could destabilize all the satellites in space.

Not everything is a simple binary answer. Elon has to protect his assets and he has some valid concerns about the war escalating.

Unless something has changed, attacking Crimea using Starlink was off limits. I am not sure if that has changed or not.

Fuck Musk, take the direct path around the problem: once and for all declare internet providers as utilities and prevent this kind of discretionary enforcement.

You run an ISP? Then you don’t get to zero-rate or prefer certain traffic. You give what they pay for.

And the orbits your satellites use? Those are fucking limited. They are not a gift, they are not free. They are not yours to control because you were “FIRST!”. Those are a public as this service should be.

Musk was soon on the phone with President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan

I would line up to spit in musks mouth as quickly as the next man but come on. Treason?

He directly chose to influence the outcome of a war. A war that his government is peripherally involved in.

He is playing in a league he has no business in, “fuck around and find out” hits different when the CIA are probably in on the conference call.

He contacted the presidents national security adviser, for advice.

My distain for musk is greater than you know, but saying he is choosing to influence the outcome of a war and framing it in a way that he did it without his governments knowledge? Come on bro.

“Per CNN, Musk also spoke to top members of the Biden administration after turning the switch off on Starlink in Ukraine”

After. He called them after he hamstrung a Ukranian offensive.

Probably a good idea not to trust anything at face value from this bloke, he’s the dodgy discount IRL version of Tony Stark

Tony Stark? Don’t give him the pleasure lol.

Half the time Musk’s statements make less sense than those made by Dr Evil.

Really tired about hearing about him. Can we all just choose to ignore him. I think he just likes the attention

Kinda hard to ignore a person who is a private citizen that has the power to change outcomes in a war that has the possibility of nuclear war. Would you rather we just ignore all the crazies and let them run amuck until they kill us all

Ignoring the bullshit he spouts is one thing (Hyperloop comes to mind), but ignoring the things he actually does is a whole different story.
