“I’m not busy but I’m not currently accepting calls. What’s up?”

Although I usually respond to čare you doing something/busy/things like that with “why, what do you need?” since my family loves trying to guilt trip people who have just said they aren’t doing something into doing whatever bullshit they’re calling for…

    Autodecline.

I don’t do video calls. Period. I don’t care who you are and my job is not tied to calls so fuck off. Family, friends, acquientwhatevs, don’t care. No video calls, ever. I am outright hostile about this >_>

Although I did think about simply reversing phone to show nature instead when I got one of these while going for a walk in a local park.

this is a corpo reminder to ask your coworkers “when are you available for a call about x”

give all information and context possible

do not say “hi” and then immediately call when you get a reply

also if you are scheduling calls do not schedule them the second after or before lunch

also not everything needs a call !

give people time to reset FFS

sadly managers do not take this answer, I’ve tried many times and I’ve been upfront

I found it more productive to let them know etiquette for calling, random cold calls are extremely annoying, disrupts my work, resets my context by switching to a new one. Not only that but I don’t have your answers now so why do you call now and expect answers to questions I have zero context of ?

I just reply to questions if I’m busy with “what’s up?” I’ll decide if it’s more valuable than whatever I was doing
