On my home feed, I can’t find an option to add thumbnail images, so it’s just text.
Update: it was low bandwidth mode in settings. That needs to be off.

No, I choose the one with images.
You might have enabled low bandwidth mode. On that same page of your settings, just above the theme selection, make sure the low bandwidth mode is unchecked.
