About to embark on getting Renegade DOS v1.33 up and running on ArcaOS.

Never used OS/2 during the 90’s bit was always curious about its DOS capabilities (“does DOS better than DOS”).

It also has a legal version of Windows 3.1 included, and some support for Windows 32 native apps. I figured at the very least I’ll need Perl to run the telnet sever that’s out there, or maybe Net2BBS will run.

Anyone use ArcaOS for BBSing? I know Mystic BBS had a native version at one point.

Biggest downside to trial is there is no trial version - $129 even to mess around with it.

Thank you! I just got SIO2K virtual modem up and running… woo hoo! Dealing with some random lockups, think it might be my hardware… but progress!

Ok, so found out my Toshiba Satellite C655d is incompatible with ArcaOS. But it’s running on a PC (non VM) with an Asus z95 mobo and a brand new $40 SSD. I have to run DOS progs full screen due to a known issue, but works well. And OS/2 native BBSs run great!

I did impulsively buy a Thinkpad T43 on eBay, the last model to ship with OS/2 for $49 as well. We’ll see if I can get that up and running!

I didn’t have much luck with vietualbox.

Oh, thats fun aLPHA… I really love ArcaOS - aside from its $120 license - its a really nice redo of OS/2; let us know how you get on with running DOS doors and whatnot.
