OK so I am fairly tech illiterate, and would like some guidance.
I had been using ver. .33 up until today, very happily I might add, and I decided to try .35 out. I know there were some issue with the .18 ver of lemmy and compatibility so I just wanted to try.
I Uninstalled .33, installed .35 from github. I immediately got an error message about compatibility and ver .18.
OK whatever. Uninstalled. Went back and got .33 , but now the app just crashes. I much prefer and am used to jerboa over the web browser.
Any thoughts ?
Edit: lemmy is pretty unusable right now on web browser, it was working fine until I no longer have the app, the constant refresh is pretty bad, every second there is 100 new posts regardless of how I sort.
Edit2: solved. Repeatedly click hamburger till app stays open. (: thanks @FlayOtters
0.35 won’t work properly until the instances all upgrade to v18, which is supposed to be released today. Be patient.
Yea I’m fine with waiting. I was more curious why ver .33 is no longer working, unless it was actually just ver .35 and labeled wrong. Like I said, I’m an idiot with stuff lol. Literally the first time I was even on github.
Thanks for answering.

0.0.33 isn’t working anymore because Jerboa’s default instance (Lemmy.ml) has already been updated to 0.18 for testing purposes and trying to connect to a 0.18 instance causes Jerboa 0.0.34 and older to crash.
We are in a rather silly state where we can’t use Jerboa 0.0.35 to log in to instances other than Lemmy.ml and can’t use Jerboa 0.0.34 when we haven’t been logged in before updating. 😬
Thanks for clarifying! I did the repeated hamburger click and got the app working. Am I only seeing current lemmy.ml posts then? Either way I can live with it. I’m just glad people smarter than me are working on these things. Lol
Repeatedly and quickly tap the top left corner (hamburger menu) as you open the app and you should eventually get to the login screen.
It might crash the first few times but just keep trying.
Omg that worked! Appreciate it!!!
