I managed to get 34 going again by very quickly and repeatedly tapping the top left corner of the screen (hamburger menu) at startup. Uninstalled and did it again to verify.

Just keep trying if it crashes.

Wasn’t working for me, app crashes before I could do anything on the menu.

What I did was turn off WiFi, launch the app and go to the login screen from the menu and then only turn WiFi back on when I was ready to log in

Ah, good idea. That sounds like a far less stressful method than mine.

Alternatively, turn on airplane mode, open the app, go to add the account, then turn off airplane mode before clicking login. This prevents it from trying to connect to the default lemmy.ml on startup, which is what causes the crash.

Wait, the app tries to connect to servers before even logging in? WTF?

No probs. Glad to be using the app again. Can’t get used to the browser experience.

I just opened the app repeatedly after every crash. After like 10, 15 times, the app is working fine.

I just wanna thank you again for helping me figure this out earlier.

Thats ok. Wouldn’t be surprised if we have to use tricks like this again with future updates to lemmy/jerboa.

Hopefully a backwards compatibility gets added at some point.
