The US sucks right now and I’d like to be able to post memes without going to the gulag.

I see that db0 is hosted from Europe? Is there any sort of policy on information requests anywhere?

as far as I understand there’s really no need for an information request. everything on the fediverse is public, including your DMs. the only thing they could really ask for is an email and an IP both of which can be spoofed.

If they really wanted to they could just spin up their own server and federate to get a copy of everything on their own system.

someone please correct me if i am wrong!

so don’t sign up with your real email. its as anonymous as you can make it using the tools at your disposal, but otherwise I’d just consider every interaction public

The reason I ask specifically is because of people getting arrested for posting Charlie Kirk memes on social media. Evidently the government was sending requests for user identification to Reddit (ISP, email), although I only see people getting arrested from Facebook. I don’t trust the future very much.

I think you’ll find most of the flotilla doesnt trust right now very much.

That said, as mentioned the fediverse itself is open and public, and you should treat it that way regardless of server / hosting provider / location.
