Fantastic initiative! The more major institutions push alternatives, the quicker the word can spread of the excellent alternatives out there.
One teeny tiny step in the right direction, I guess.
A year ago, we weren’t taking any steps. Now many different European institutions are taking similar actions.
Lets see what happens in 2 and a 1/2ish years. Trump, and the hatred for him, will be gone and a lot of the european conservatives will return to their usual state of absolute spinelessnes.
I started using Qwant. Then I started using a VPN.
Qwant didn’t like that.
So back to DuckDuckGo I went.
Same with Startpage. It keeps firing Capchas (sp?) so it went in the bin.
Been using Qwant for about year now, its honestly great. My only complaint is searches can be a bit slow, but its only like waiting 5 seconds before results populate
IDK if its really 5s but that’s like eons in page loading time
Qwant? What happened to the European Search Index? Did the EU put loads of money into that?
And isn’t Qwant just a Bing user?

I prefer Ecosia, even though they host (partially?) on AWS.
