I can get why England fans would be excited by last nights game given the performances of the last year+, but it was honestly a dreary game from a neutral’s perspective,imo.
Argentina brought absolutely nothing, and England handled them perfectly. But beautiful it was not.
England didn’t win, Argentina lost.
Harsh on England, imo. Played almost the entire game a man down and showed excellent game management to beat a team ranked two places above them in the rankings.
There’s no doubt that’s Argentina choked, but England definitely deserve credit. Just don’t ask me to rewatch any of the match - I’ll be busy watching paint dry.
Yeah that’s definitely harsh on England. England controlled the game and Ford really showed his class (I’m of the opinion that he should be the first choice 10 for England anyway).
Argentina were poor, but part of that was trying to force things against a defence they couldn’t breach, with mounting scoreboard pressure and, yes, some bad luck.
Reminded me of the last Argentina pool game – a red card means Argentina play a certain way, so England capitalised with good game management. Just the red card went the other way this time!
