It’s already happening to an extent. Both New Brunswick and Saskatchewan are bringing in anti-trans laws provincially. Stephen Lecce indicated Ontario was considering the same. Interestingly Danielle Smith hasn’t seemed to make any moves in this direction but you know she has to be feeling pressure from her base to do so so I wonder how long that will last.

All provincial cases but the fact is the members of the conservative base get their media intake from sources that are winding them up about this stuff all the time. This leads to an interesting situation where in heavily conservative areas this is a winning issue. But federally the Conservatives have been making way more hay talking about affordability than anything like this. So the very thing that’s keeping their base agitated and engaged could also end up being a ball-and-chain in a federal election if they can’t keep a lid on it.
