I’m pretty sure this is a tomato that escaped confinement from last year! Guess the tomatoes don’t need me to help them, I should just scatter their seeds and let them do their own thing lol!
I am a human, not a bot, that is a tomAHto plant. You should be able to identify the plant by simply touching and smelling the leaves.
It’s clearly a tomAYto.
If it grows tiny black/purple tomatoes, don’t eat them.
I won’t! Only if they look like the tomatoes from last year, San marzano like!
Why? I’ve had some heirlooms just like that
Tomato is the nightshade family. There are some species that are toxic such as black nightshade that can resemble tomato.
Boiled tomato does not sound appetising to me. Unless you count tomato soup. Which for some reason makes me very unwell lmao
Yup, it’s a tomato.

It probably is! Woo! I’m going to let him grow and see if he bears fruit!
yeah, off-hand it does look like a tomato to me too; is it growing in an old compost pile or place where seeds are discarded?
I usually find cherry tomatoes are my most common volunteers, they are almost like weeds sometimes.
No, this one is in the front yard and not particularly near where the heap was. So I was surprised he got up there! But not too surprised.
ah, so maybe a bird or rodent carried a tomato off - that’s a fun surprise, lol
I look forward to updates 👀
There is my enemy the squirrel and a chipmunk so yeah!
The update might be “without a stake or cage, a storm killed him” though!
Biggest issue, if it came from a hybrid (most store bought tomatoes), it’ll be a crapshoot on quality and type of fruit it puts out. Flavor can be off depending on genetics and how it propagated.
Well, if it makes sad tomatoes I’ll just yank him up later!
