Yeah I guess I’m spoiled by PugJesus usually putting an interesting blurb under the posts, but it’s kinda silly to not even have a name under the meme, idk who tf this is supposed to be about

Pugjesus does an awesome job but it’s way above and beyond what’s necessary. Grumpus otoh just drops memes and leaves us hanging and that’s definitely not enough. I would settle for even just a fricken wikipedia link, but as it is I’m sadly on my way to just blocking grumpus because it’s so infuriating.

    Explanation From Original OP:

Context: after getting fired by Lincoln twice for his failure in defeating the Confederate army, McClellan tried to run against Lincoln in the 1864 presidential election as a democrat where his presidential campaign adopted immediate peace with the Confederacy and declared that the war was a total failure. The support for the Civil War was low in the North giving McClellan a chance of winning the election. However, General Sherman captured Atlanta months before the election in November, giving Lincoln the boost needed to win his reelection. McClellan proceeded to lose the presidential election with a landslide with Lincoln gaining 212 electoral votes (with 17 of them invalid) and McClellan gaining only 21 electoral votes

Edit: well the Democrat did run on a platform to make peace with the confederacy, McClellan campaigned for the preservation of the union and criticise Lincoln handling of the war, breaking from his party campaign platform during the election.
