Three International Criminal Court judges filed a lawsuit in Manhattan challenging sanctions imposed by the Trump administration, arguing the measures violated their due process rights and exceeded presidential authority. The complaint, filed in the Southern District of New York, names judges Kimberly Prost of Canada, Solomy Balungi Bossa of Uganda, and Reine Alapini-Gansou of Benin as plaintiffs.
The judges contend the sanctions were retaliation for ICC investigations into alleged crimes committed by Israeli leaders and US military personnel in Afghanistan and were designed to punish judicial decisions and coerce future rulings. They describe the measures as tantamount to a “financial death penalty,” citing frozen bank accounts, canceled credit cards, and restrictions on banking services, online platforms, and travel.
The USA has embraced fascism, and we will now be stealing money from foreign judges who try to prevent atrocities against children. Again Israel and USA will assert their right to do whatever they want to anyone’s children.
Then it might be time for the UN, created in the wake of the last fascist plague to ensure it never happened again, to do it’s damn job. Ideally through law and the cooperation of countries.
The UN is now rotten to the core, waiting to collapse. 4 out of 5 veto members of the UNSC are now authoritarian regimes.
I think the principle is sound, if not the implementation. Veto should fuck all the way off though.
And when the UN was created. 4 out of the 5 permanant members was continuing colonial policies
In Texas, ICE protestors got sentenced 30-100 years in prison … meanwhile people have the right to ask asylum, and the right on a just procedure, thats a human right for all of us… So ICE is against human rights and it’s also against European law … Thats crazy bro
This is a litmus test for the US judiciary.
Yeah I remember that. European policymakers who want to fight online hatred and disinformation are actively opposed by trump’s gov and big tech (see inauguration), with bans, accounts of entire families are removed, check for example Imran Ahmed (CCDH), Thierry Breton (former EU Commissioner) and Clare Melford (Global Disinformation Index) have been banned by the US for criticizing and regulating American social media platforms such as X and Facebook/META. As a result, they are no longer allowed to enter the US, which shows the influence of tech companies on the government and what happens when a lobby for consumer rights/users/privacy rights in the US is missing… In addition to entry bans, there are reports of blocked social media accounts of family members, frozen bank accounts and legal action (such as Ahmed’s case against deportation), demonstrating the US’s escalation against European regulation and criticism of Big Tech. Good that ICC is filing a lawsuit against the U.S. government for this.
