From Juniper Fox:

Did you know that red foxes are some of the best dads in the animal kingdom?

When his babies are young, dad brings meals back to the den to help provide nourishment for mom while she’s nursing and once the kits are old enough to leave the den, he helps them learn vital skills they will use for the rest of their lives.

Fox dads often bring food directly to young kits.

As weeks pass and the kits grow, Fox fathers have been observed burying food near the den site to engage kits to forage. This is thought to be an attempt at helping them learn how to sniff out food on their own.

Fox dads are also known to entice more play teaching ambush techniques and evasive maneuvers which could help them escape from predators later in life.

Fox fathers play a huge role when it comes to rearing their family and spend months making sure their young have the best chance at survival. Beneath every thriving den is a father quietly doing his part.

Yay, I’m so glad! I love learning about animals, too, and it’s great to have somewhere to share it.
