Yeah it’s a thing from east Africa, mostly Kenya and Uganda. They go to work In the middle east or SE Asia, have their passports taken, sometimes are locked in a building or prostituted. Its the modern day slave trade. If they run then in a lot of circumstances the authorities bring them back as they are on a work contract and not an open visa to travel. This has been happening for decades now, but seems worse with people advertising work opportunities over social media.
