Earth is being awfully selfish. Does he even care about all the shareholder value they’re creating?

Earth will bounce back without us around being all virus-like.

The earth wouldn’t care if it was a barren rock devoid of life. We aren’t going extinct more easily than every other large mammal on earth, so “bouncing back eventually” misses how horrifying it would be. I’m tired of people pretending like extinction is inevitable, or even the worst fate that might await us. I’m not scared of extinction; I’m scared of us facing hopeless lives of full of suffering only to die painful deaths.

Yep, you got it. But this wasn’t a post about how much life will suffer on earth as a result of humans. That is, as you say, quite terrifying.

Maybe we should all come together and do something about it.

We just need to build more datacenters in order to compute the solution to the problem of all these data centers.

We should force these cunts that are bringing fracking and data centers to the world to live in the Atacama desert without any provisions for the rest of their short lives

It’s very easy to blame things caused by big corporations but a quarter of all emissions come from you eating meat which is your choice and you can stop doing that.

And in Germany every year there’s articles that the slaughter factories can’t sell as much as last year because people eat less meat. Yes, Regulation is needed and great and all but it won’t happen if everyone is sitting on their ass still eating meat showing the world that they don’t care about the slaughter factories. Individual people still make a slow difference and that’s better than just yelling regulation while eating corpses.

By your logic we should all use LLMs because it’s the big corpos that own the data centers so there’s nothing you can do

To be fair, me alone going vegan is not going to stop the meat from hitting the shelves.

We need global organisation and co-ordination to do this.

I completely disagree. We don’t need coordination to individually decide to eat less meat and buy more local. You don’t need to stop completely to make an impact. And it’ll be easier to encourage and convince others when you’ve already started yourself. We can do that at the same time as fighting for companies to reduce their emissions.

it comes from meat farms, i dont produce a gallon of waste and emissions from eating chicken nuggets :p

sure, supply and demand, but its less likely that if you complain on lemmy than more popular social media that you will make a difference.
