Republicans have to take the anti-science position on every single issue, don’t they?

I hope this doesn’t pass the senate. It’s gonna damage the health and safety of millions of people, all for some kickbacks to the leisure industry.

I know permanent standard time has no financial incentive for politicians, but it is the clear scientific answer for a permanent time.

Edit: to say nothing of the ridiculousness of being permanently offset from the rest of the IANA time zones by an extra hour.

“Lawmakers hailing from agricultural districts warn farmers could be devastated by long winter mornings that see the sun rise later, especially in districts where some won’t see sunlight until after 9 a.m. And some advocates argue it could endanger the lives of students who would commute to school in the dark.”

You aren’t changing when the sun goes up or down, you’re changing our perception of it.

Indeed, by modeling light exposure, circadian impacts and health characteristics county by county, the researchers estimate that permanent standard time would prevent some 300,000 cases of stroke per year and result in 2.6 million fewer people having obesity. Permanent daylight saving time would achieve about two-thirds of the same effect.

      https://stanmed.stanford.edu/no-daylight-saving-time-healthier/

I’d rather just get rid of it entirely. It’d also make more sense when looking at time zones.
