The 2026 edition of the gender census is live until “at least 13th August 2026”. It is survey on the language (mostly in English) that we (want to) use to for ourselves and other members of the community. Here’s an excerpt of what the homepage has to say:

The Gender Census is an annual survey that collects information about the language used by people whose genders are not adequately described, expressed or encompassed by the restrictive gender binary. It has taken place every year since 2015.

If you can’t easily put yourself into just one of these two [binary genders], click here to take part.

I’m glad somebody is gathering data on-our language. Though I do wish the results were analyzed a little more scientifically. I also wish more surveys like this existed in other languages. If you know of any please let me know!

I am also now (rather spontaneously) considering creating a similar survey in German, though I would need to look into how much effort that would actually be as far as data protection is concerned.
