Ok, the night shift has begun. If everyone can try to refrain from burning things down or crashing their cars it would be great, I plan to sort out my budget and finalise my car expense figures for the tax return tonight. I really don’t need to be interrupted by disasters, so if we can avoid them it would be a win for us all.

A HR woman from head office is in this week. She seems like your typical Disney Adult and her laptop is covered in all these cute rainbow stickers. It’s so funny how all HR people are like this when they have one of the most functionally evil roles in an organisation

Looking to get a new car soon. My dad thinks hybrids aren’t worth it but I have a feeling he’s been watching too many bias youtube videos on that one. Surely there are benefits to a car that can do 1200km on a tank

The Prius that can turn on the engine to charge the battery when you’ve been using the ac is a nice feature. You can sleep in it in an emergency.

That’s what I’m thinking. Plus a car that could do my trip to work and back entirely on battery power would have cost benefits in the long run

I got a message from a periodontal clinic subject to a recent data breach, urging me to not click any links that might be sent to me and to rest assured that my details are secure now (thankyou so much for shutting the gate after the horse has bolted!) The last time I had any connection with them at all was when I first got pregnant with Miniest, maybe 13 years ago‽ I haven’t had any contact or use of their services since. Why had they kept my details for so long when I was no longer actually a customer of theirs? I feel like there should be a time limit for keeping information about people that aren’t customers anymore, especially when places are bought out or merged into other businesses that you didn’t originally consent to deal with.

Some places delete things, and you’d think being medically related they should have a data retention policy.

The two reasons are they’re a 'never delete anything’s type of place that wants to hold onto everthing ‘just in case’. The most organised version of this is they can still use your data to build a profile of their future ideal customer, even if you’re not opted in.

The other option, and maybe more likely since they had a breach, is they’re so disorganised with their customer data they don’t know what to do with it.

Especially given they’re ‘direct to consumer’ instead of ‘business to business’, even in the medical field. That’s why Ashley Maddison had that massive breach years ago. Even though they were a dating website specifically for affairs, they weren’t obligated to have good security because they dealt with individual’s data instead of other businesses

People at work want to compare prices in a pdf to in a spreadsheet. They asked if AI could do it and my initial reaction is, “of course not, because that would be something actually useful for it to do”. I gave it a shot anyway and yeah, it completely ballsed it up

Any of the other tech people seen that AWS cost anomaly bug? Made it to 9:06 on the first Monday of holidays before a phone call to please check this email. Damn you Bezos…

Edit there was no way we had racked up a 10 trillion dollar bill over the weekend, but still got the old heart going for a minute

Ugh UGH I was halfway through doing my nail polish (want to practise some nail art) and went inside early afternoon to watch a video and let the base dry.

Nek Minit I wake up from a 4 1/2 nap with the cat on my legs.

Tomorrow, tomorrow I shall practice. For now I just have to get rid of this weird nap-fog 😱
