This is one of the reasons so many corporations are making so many anti-consumer shitheel moves right now. They can largely buy their way out of criticism by leveraging the same manipulation mechanism that has been coloring elections. It all boils down to the tools from Cambridge Analytica. The cost of constant spin and media fuckery is negligible as they create a digital serfdom.

Yup another reason I won’t give Sony another cent. Unless everything else I own dies I won’t buy another game on my PS5. We haven’t subscribed to PS+ once and it’s great. We really only keep it as a backup now that hardware market is fucked.

Mine has been collecting dust since they raised the price of PS premium in 22. Built a PC when the building was good and never looked back. Plan to run Linux on the ps5 to get some use out of it.

But I think in the case of corporations it has the tendency to backfire, where they try to push the narrative that people want something (like a digital only console), create fakes and bots to push the narrative that consumers want that, then they release the thing and it fails because consumers don’t want it, and they stay with a surprised Pikachu face that “how come this thing that everyone of our bots was excited about didn’t sell well?”

I think people are catching on to the tactics, but largely, number still go up for the most part. They may gamble and lose here and there but it’s still working for some. If they can lock people in, in some way, it’s a full win for them. In their mind, they just have to wait out this pesky freedom we all have to wear off and they’re set.
