Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia have banned entry to their respective countries for vehicles registered in Russia after a recommendation by the European Commission.

    Maybe Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia don’t want Russian pre-occupiers to settle in for a “special operations” in their countries.

    On the one hand, this might dissuade someone used to driving their own car to have a vacation in Europe and push them to drive elsewhere. On the other hand, the decision makes it harder to take all your belongings to leave Russia for good and stop being its taxpayer.

      On the third hand there are still legitimate reasons to travel from Russia by car:

      1. Visiting kids who study in the EU (Finland is more typical destination than Baltic states)
      2. Leaving Russia with pets
      3. Economic ties for Kaliningrad region

      This ban won’t do anything reasonable regarding the supply chain of Russian war machine. Petty little thing a-la «Putin will have to recreate his battle.net account to play Diablo 4. It’ll stop the war for sure!»
