You’d get $1000 USD to buy any tools/clothing you’d need to start. After the initial drop off with your kit, no outside help or intervention until evacuation in exactly one year.
Probably the river, although the beach would be nice if I knew there was also fresh water nearby. $1000 would be more than enough for clothes and tools, but I might spend a good chunk of it on some shelf-stable food and vitamin supplements. A year is a long time.
Which river though, there are three of them? I’m torn between 2 pacific north west, and 3 beach. I think 1 which is like temperate Ozarks or Alaska would have rough winter. And 4 Southeast Asia would be really prone to parasites, mosquitoes, and diseases. So I’d go with 3, beach because fishing and trapping in the water would be extremely easy, you’d have an abundance of fish/crustacean almost immediately. Clearing a small area and farming along with harvesting natural fruits in the area would be easy.
