Male/female is only weird if you make it weird. Female is easier to type and say than “women/girls”. People have imposed this interesting dynamic about how men look at women or talk about women (and girl childs) that sometimes female might be the best word in some context. It’s not some obscure word, it’s commonly understood. Just let it go and don’t feed into the weirdness.
Unless you are also using males don’t use the word females (and vice versa). That is what I would recommend to not seem too disrespectful, even then be careful to avoid being dehumanizing.
I personally tend to use variations of (fe)male identifying people. But I rarely talk about people of the same gender at all ages. That seems like something that isn’t that common though. If that is your justification for using the words females/males just be sure not to use it in other contexts.

I’m not perfect and would never claim to be, but male and female are words that have been around and used my entire life inoffensively. I occasionally use the word female and I even feel weird about it afterwards because of this strange association, and then I feel mildly annoyed that I even think about it. I think the point is that you as an individual do not get to decide what is and isn’t an offensive word. No word is inherently offensive, it’s the historical and social context that creates the negativity.

You are correct. I don’t know what it’s like to be a woman nor to be objectified cuz to be candid I’m pretty average and there aren’t many people that are going to objectify me. But I’ll continue to think you and people like you are part of the problem by giving weight to the idea that this is an offensive word.

My point wasn’t trying to make you feel like you said the N word, just to give you an example of how the use of words evolve over time. 50-60 years ago the N word was not offensive to the general public, it was just how most white people described black people. However, partly due to the civil rights movement and how people of color fought to humanize themselves in the eyes of others, the word became more vitriolic.

It’s pretty simple. Male/female are adjectives and man/woman are nouns. Referring to a person as an adjective that describes them is generally not a great look because it reduces the person to that one characteristic about them.
[Correct] Women who go shopping are female shoppers.
[Incorrect] Females who go shopping are woman shoppers.
It can be an honest mistake, but it’s used deliberately enough to warrant the side-eye, especially when people stand up to defend it. Some people do get a little weird about ANY usage of the word female, correct or not, but this is not one of those scenarios.
To add to that, they are adjectives that can strip away someone’s humanity. Animals are described as male and female, for example “that’s a female rat”. While humans can be described with noun adjuncts like “they are a human woman”.
Imo female and male should only really be utilized in a medical or scientific description.

Anyone who has actually had to clean public bathrooms knows that mens restrooms are usually cleaner than women’s.
That said, women’s restrooms might have dispensers for hygiene products that occasionally get restocked. Not often enough to be reliable but often enough to give you hope.
It depends on the location, which might be a statement on clientele and traffic in a given bathroom.
When I worked at a bar, the men’s room was worse but when I worked retail the women’s room was worse.

I dunno. My own anecdotal observations are that I’ve used both and the women’s has been cleaner most of the time.

I was a cleaner years ago. Bar bathrooms are… interesting. I have cleaned shit from the urinals in mens bathroom. Also I have cleaned womens bathrooms where a big beer glass was stuffed with toiletpaper, then the whole thing stuck into the toilet bowl, and then someone shit on top of it… Both genders public bathrooms are nasty.
In one of my regular dive bars, the ladies’ toilets were so filthy on a regular basis that all the women ended up using the men’s toilets.
Used to clean the bathrooms in a restaurant, 9/10 times the men’s bathroom is cleaner. Guys go in and pee at a urinal at public restrooms and then leave, there is very little opportunity for them to mess shit up.
It’s either that, or someone goes in there to commit some emergency gastroenterology. Like, I could see "gotta go so bad you start shitting before you’re seated and get some on the floor. But…up the walls?
not just public toilets either, i had an office job where they held monthly team meetings and every time it got to any other business someone would declare the women’s to be a ‘total disgrace’ or similar description
Part of my job in my college cafeteria was cleaning the employee bathrooms. The women’s bathroom was always the worst, by far.
I couldnt tell you how many bathrooms Ive cleaned across various jobs, at literally every level of economic strata in modern society, and the women’s bathrooms were nastier than the men’s at least 95% of the time.
There was often more pee on women’s toilet seats than on the ones in the men’s room. Men’s rooms usually have urinals taking most of the piss. There is a large contingent of women that apparently hover over the toilet and let fly. Although I guess logically if they think everyone else pisses like a broken fire hydrant then I can see why they wouldnt want to sit on the seat
I was a manager for D&B. We had a dedicated woman’s lavatory sanitizer for busy weekends. I have never ever needed a men’s equivalent.

I actually started refusing to clean the women’s bathroom when I worked retail. It was always nasty as fuck when I had to deal with it.
The proverbial straw was when I went in and found a red Picasso on the white tile wall, and you know those little mailboxes with bags in them so women can dispose of their sanitary products and not have to flush them or hold them untik they get to the trash can? At least 10 total products from tampons to pads were stacked on top of the little mailbox, and the handicap stall had an avalanche. The trash can was also overflowing so either we had a lot more women using the bathroom than normal, or nobody had emptied the trash the night before.

Many moons ago I worked for Office Depot. We were all on a rotation for cleaning the bathrooms because apparently that corporation doesn’t have the money for a janitorial service.

Please, please, please! As a person born in the US, treat public spaces with respect. Just because you don’t have to clean it, doesn’t mean you have to destroy it.
