It’s not just that awful guy Elon; the Secretary of Health has also directly caused the deaths of several hundred thousand people by ruthlessly scrapping vital global programs that took decades to build (the CDC does not exist anymore for example - at least not as a credible, scientific institution which it, of course, needs to be to serve it’s purpose).

Added to this are many horrible war crimes for which the US regime, together with Israel, is responsible.

Hell, it would be impossible to list all the crimes against humanity without writing an entire novel about them. There are just too many in not even two years.

So, in short: It would be good if U.S. citizens were aware of the global impact of their irresponsibility.

But hey, maybe the world will learn from this, which will only accelerate the inevitable downfall of the U.S. There’s even a somewhat recent historical precedent for this: Russia.

That country was once a superpower, too, but it was ruined by the greed of its billionaires and is now an autocracy that serves solely to enrich its rulers - back then, by the way, this was already happening and only possible with the generous support of the U.S. billionaires under Clinton.

So it seems very, very obvious: This is apparently inevitable for the U.S. as well, because the only thing that could stop it would be the population—and despite all the obvious crimes, the people aren’t fighting back. So the country is lost.

The world, for its part, will adapt.

If you only seriously realize this when using some random social media app, you’re the perfect example of how this could have happened. If not, then all the more so.

It’s less trustworthy in the guidelines but it’s not defunded.

Then maybe you should hold back on making sarcastic comments about things you know nothing about.

Aside from the fact that mainstream social media apps are being misused by billionaires for their own purposes, that’s the biggest problem here: people who get in the way of a meaningful discussion because they feel the need to post something they find funny.

This isn’t a topic where jokes are appropriate. You may not grasp the consequences, but it’s exactly as I say: Hundreds of thousands of people are dying because of this.

And yet: You think this is a joke. That’s disgusting, nothing more.

Elon is a monstrous turd who has certainly killed plenty of people with his actions but I really doubt those numbers. The only time I’ve heard people cite these things about USAID they’re based on projections from how many people were receiving aid, not actual, recorded deaths. From what I understand, some of the void left by USAID has been filled by other international and local organizations so those projections are extremely flawed and inflated.

Do you have a source for this?

Agreed. I’m sure there have been and will continue to be some deaths as a direct result of abruptly halting aid like this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the broad result was actually a soft power vacuum that enabled China to casually dance their way into being the good guy for millions of people, paving the way for good international relations in regions that were otherwise gonna be hard as fuck for them to enter. Now their foot is in the door.

Could I see a source on that? (Unless it’s an exaggeration, in which case please ignore my thickness)

Edit: I mean the number of deaths, not the elon quote
