Some naive part of me wonders if the people who pushed fossil fuel and suppressed research about climate change see this. When they see the world around them bursting into flames, is there even the slightest twinge of regret?

The rest of me wants to drag them out of their houses and roast them alive before the world follows them.

It’s always the other ones’ fault. Humans are amazing at projecting guilt away from themselves and onto others.

How about adding some description to those images? E.g. where were those pictures taken?

Edit: main question was which river is shown in the last image. Top contenders are Avon and Severn, but it’s just guesses.

You might not know it, but England is a tad larger than a stamp…

Average tourist to “England” (standing in for U.K.): “Doesn’t seem so to me, Tassaud’s, West End, Big Ben, Speakers’ Corner are but a “subway” ride away!”

I’ve been to the UK on occasion, and if you drive from the Tunnel in Folkstone to Lands End, you are bound to notice that it’s bigger.

Looks just like the pacific northwest in the summer time. My lawn is that exact same shade of brown much to my neighbor’s chagrin.

It’s the same here. The ground is heavy clay, and the topsoil is maybe 5-8cm. So the lawn here knows two states: either swamp after it rained, or desert grass after a dry day or two.

When we moved in, I had the front yard dug out and replaced with proper soil, and the lawn there is way better off, even though it is on the north side and in the shade.

Wow. That is crazy looking. I haven’t been to the UK in a couple of decades, but damn. I guess a good time to clean out and dredge canals.

Forest management is a bit hit and miss in the UK but as a general rule our woods (native deciduous and spruce/fir factory farms) tend to not flame up that as often - at the moment. It’s more the kinda scrubland (flat or hilly) that we have a problem with.

A lot of it is kids (and the odd braindead adult) dicking around with lighters.

England is dry… Well… Shit, I guess the reputation for rain is gone.
