as for grovers algorithm: afaik its pretty much useless. quantum operations are way slower than classical operations and its inherently serial@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] well to be fair we have been building classical computers for like 8 or 20 decades while quantum computers have only been around for like. 3 decades?
Google claims to have already made a quantum computer that can solve certain problems much faster than a classical computer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum/_supremacy
The problem they solved was one of sampling a quantum circuit, though. Nothing to do with factoring integers or breaking crypto, as far as I can tell.
Also, HP then built a classical supercomputer that (using AMD CPUs and GPUs) simulates qubits far faster than the Google machine with actual qubits, so 🤷♂️.
