    FYI, Acer links fan control to NitroSense that enures that your system is constantly pinging your location back to their CMS. I am still in the process of reverse engineering their fan control stuff, but that isn’t quite my expertise. (Some Acer fan control stuff is public, but that is based on the model and doesn’t always work across all of their systems.)

    I suspect that Linux devs have figured it out already, so I should probably check again if any drivers or hacks are released yet.

    (If you want the CMS URLs, they likely change over time. Wireshark and a bit of time is all you need to find them and it’s trivial to either block the connections or craft check-ins that are chock full of comments about the executives mothers or insert broken information. Just set your hosts file to point to a python script that runs an https server any you can get the payloads it sends fairly easy.)
