More users are being pushed to AI-first search, with sites that create content seeing a rapid decline in traffic.
No better time to move away from Google.
I stopped using Google for web search years ago, never looked back, never felt like missing out.
What a crappy company
StartPage is my favorite, DDG is fine but they have ai bullshit opt out instead of opt in. kagi exists but I’m fucking poor. SearxNG is pretty good for what it is. I want mojeek to succeed but currently it’s not great
I’ve using StartPage for more than a year now, going from Duckduckgo to them, it’s way more stable than when i start to use, used to be very unstable and lose my searches indexes too often back there
Jesus Christ man… The small handful of times I tried using their AI to help with computer issues it just straight up lied about it. “Sure you can correct your issue xyz by going to the folder Bob and adding this line “I-Lie-Constantly=True” to the Gofuckyourself.json file”. Thanks guy, that folder doesn’t exist and there’s no Gofuckyourself.json, why did you suggest that? “You’re right to correct me! I’m a piece of shit that hallucinates everything!”
These things are worthless…
from my experience like maybe 80% of the time they are essentially correct. not the best answer or solution mind you but not made up. the other 20 percent is like getting an answer from someone is is real high or drunk.
Those 80% are just paraphrased reddit posts that you would previously found on the first place of the first results page.
Bo value was created.
not from my experience. it can give results that I might have had to do a few searches for and clicked on a few links. granted I won’t click on a reddit link. usually its a blog or ugh. youtube video. by its nature no value is created though as its relying on other sources. its like a web search does not create value.

Hitting enter serves no function either, since google no longer returns what you’re searching for anyway.
This started when people were ok with search engines ignoring search terms.
Yuck
