The vr community on lemmy is still pretty small. I’m never sure which to post to as they overlap so much. Since the other is more general, maybe that’s a best place to use? What do you guys think?

There’s also this community, technically smaller but they do have almost as many comments as the other. [email protected]

After having posted to the vr channel with some quest related things… I think it’s filled with people that specifically hate Meta and Quest, so it might actually not be a great match. Unless it’s about games for multiple platforms or anything else that’s not clearly Meta related.

Well that’s disappointing, you know I had a post downvoted to negative awhile ago and wondered why. You would think people would be more welcoming on lemmy. I get how Meta as a company has some horrible practices, but they are pumping the money into VR R&D - benefiting us gamers.

Maybe this forum should less restrictive - Primarily about Quest but general VR tech posts allowed to.

I understand their feelings, but yeah it is a bit disappointing especially since basically everything currently relevant in VR has to do with Quest and Meta. Most games are either exclusive on Quest or appear there first.

I saw you managed to become a mod, did Semi respond or was it the Lemmy.world admins? I think it makes sense to unpin this post for the reasons we talked about.

We could ask people in the other community what they think.

It definitely makes some sense, but I wouldn’t want to flood their timeline with a lot of Quest-only news that they might not be interested in at all. Whenever something applies to more than just quest I’m already trying to post it there instead. Same goes for PSVR. The advantage of having them all separate is that you don’t see stuff that doesn’t interest you. Maybe we can pin a post with links to the all vr communities to make it easier for people to subscribe to them instead.

There aren’t many people active here, but a few are and it might make sense to keep them separate. Maybe not, I’m really not sure. I’m also not sure how you’d enforce bundling them into one. By pinning a post telling people to go to vr instead? I wouldn’t want to close it down.

Sure let’s get input from the other community. There seems to be more and more cross-play games, especially with PSVR2 and Pico. I think a pinned post advising people to post in the other is fine. It’d be kinda anti-lemmy to force something. And if the community does get big enough for split we can always start using this one again.

Hmm… can we pin stuff, the mod hasn’t been active for 3 months looks like.

If you can’t reach them I think you can contact the Lemmy.world mods, they might let you have the keys ^^
