McCarthy is not a prisoner of his party’s most reckless extremists. He is a prisoner of his own cowardly inability to marginalize them by reaching across the aisle.

McCarthy’s problem is that he needs those reckless extremists to maintain his majority and they know it. McCarthy also is running into a problem where he can’t bring House Democrats on board without losing House Republicans.

But the Republicans House majority is fairly thin. McCarthy could say that it’s time to work across the aisle to get the business of the nation done. If you strip Freedom caucus members of all power and committee assignments it might be doable.

Let’s not forget that it took 15 tries to get McCarthy as House Speaker, which definitely required the “Congress Crazies”.

And Google will be more than happy to teach you over a dozen ways to get around paywalls.

Probably not, but that was one of my biggest annoyances at The Other Place: someone would post an article and another person would come in to read it. But if it was paywalled, the second person, instead of either deciding the article wasn’t interesting enough and walking away; or doing one of a dozen things to get past the paywall and read the article; or actually contributing to the community by posting a non-paywalled link / the text of the article - instead of doing any of those either non-disruptive or actually-contributing things, the person just stands there and bitches, “Paywall! Paywall!

We’re not your mother and we’re not necessarily going to hand things to you. You’re presumably an adult and can learn how to cope with paywalls. Or it you can’t, then at least have the decency to just walk away without commenting paywall! paywall! like a helpless baby bird.
