Anything in a government office as a foreigner is always pleasant and quick. Anything online as a foreigner however… It’s getting better, but man, I’ve done some real head smashing against the wall trying to register for various things online here.
Yeah very true, often the online forms trip over my name because it’s too long, because I even have a middle name.
To ease this for my son I only gave him one name ^^.
Oh what I did last week, when with my drivers license I lost my credit card after we moved, was that I connected my phone to my computer and asked AI to connect to it like a developer would and take screenshots, read through them and navigate the bank app to change the adress to our new one, tell the bank I lost my credit card and then order a new one. It took half an hour of burning tokens but surprisingly it did it successfully unattended and I got my new credit card a couple of days later.
Yeah, maybe I should let the LLMs suffer on my behest. That’s what they exist for, eh?
I have the same issue with my name. For some reason, when I arrived here long long ago, the national health insurance wanted my name in Korean only, so they went ahead and Koreanized it for me. They didn’t do the best job of it phonetically and it’s still like that and I can’t change it.
My kids took my long last name and have normal first and middle names, so they still run into issues. They both had to get pages added to their Korean passports because their name didn’t fit on the first page.
