As stupid and blunderous as this war has been for the US, there’s no way this is true. They do have enough ability to continue to freeze the bulk of shipping through the straight, I’ll grant them that.
I haven’t followed in detail, but wasn’t America escorting ships near the Oman side? Basically telling shipping vessels to hug the wall and the navy would intercept any incoming attacks?
I don’t know if it’s still happening, but yes, you’re right. If I recall correctly, ships were unloading their cargo to a handful of ships that were repeatedly running through the Straight With a Navy escort, presumably for insurance reasons.
Oh my fucking god can we just fucking have our oil and fertilizer crisis already please? Enough of the foreplay from both sides, honestly.
