I have a quick question. My iPhones got age restricted with the latest update. This is probably because of UK’s child protection fiasco. The phones aren’t bought in the UK, does this mean I can throw away the phones now? I’ve never been in the uk whatsoever. It’s apple throwing me under the bus.

iPhone 11 and iPhone 16.

this is completely nuts honestly. anyone has ideas? or wants a free phone lol.

but seriously, how can a phone bought in 2020 be age restricted. If you wipe the phone, doesn’t it go back to its original IOs?

    guys thanks for the replies.

    I found the issue, my billing address for my Apple ID was in the UK. So I changed it and the blocks were removed. But honestly these are my last iPhones. I am going for non-big tech phone after this

    Well, now I’m happy that I never get around to updating my iphone.

    I’d rather risk the occasional virus than have this government-mandated spyware.

    Elderly relative was age restricted, hands too shaky for the face scan and didn’t have a passport. Eventually the phone stopped asking, still haven’t worked out exactly what has been “restricted”.
