Students taking the online version of both tests can use Desmos.
Desmos trivializes the math test. Desmos removes the need for calculator skills and trivializes many categories of problem.
Desmos can graph implicitly with y. While a student who works with a TI84 needs to isolate a variable to solve their system by graphing (and also needs to know how to navigate several menus), Desmos will instantly solve anything for you as long as you can set it up.
Beyond that, both the SAT and ACT were made shorter. The ACT science is now optional - and this has always been the hardest part of the test IMHO.
The College Board also made Pre Calc an “AP” class. It’s a total cash grab, and it ties into a general sense of “grade inflation” across the board.
But why?! Is there some article I can read to know more about this?
Probably related to making a profit. You want more students, not less, if you want to make money.
There was recently a thread somewhere around here about how many universities don’t even use SAT scores for entrance anymore. I’ll link to it if i can find it.
