I bought a node a year or more ago, it sits in a drawer now because despite nodes in my area and bringing it along during travel, not a single person has ever communicated with me on it. Got bored of saying hello into the void so I just turned it off.
I received about 20 messages on the broadcast channel since yesterday evening. It’s probably more interesting when you have friends to chat with in a private channel, or use it to collect data from some remote stations.
