I used to tap the number in mobile while in the profile to see it broken down but it’s not working for me lately.

If it were easier to see who upvoted or downvoted (only the most recent for each individual user to avoid duplicates caused by changing their vote) that would also be cool.

    You can kind of hack this using custom css in your profile. I just tried this and confirmed that it worked, but I couldn’t quite get the alignment just right. Basically, the info is there on the element, but it is in the title attribute. So, you have to make the existing content not visible (without hiding the entire element) by setting the font size to 0. Then, you pull out the title and stick it in there in its place.

    .score {
      font-size: 0;
    }

    .score::after {
      content: attr(title);
      font-size: var(--font-size-16);
      line-height: 44px;
    }

    One note is that the --font-size-16 is the default. If you have changed your font preferences to be bigger or smaller, you can try changing the number on that css variable to be bigger or smaller. Here is a list of the possible values that are defined in the stylesheet:

    css variables

        Just a heads up that the next release for PieFed (1.8.0) is going to break the css I wrote above. Only a minor change is needed (the name of the html attribute changed), but I wrote the new css you need below for when feddit.online updates:

        .score {
          font-size: 0;
        }

        .score::after {
          content: attr(data-bs-original-title);
          font-size: var(--font-size-16);
          line-height: 44px;
        }

        One note about this after I have used it for a little bit after experimenting is that the vote score text seems like it is a target for tapping to cast a vote. Though, that might just be my fat-fingering things as I am prone to do on mobile. I have also struggled to get the hover text to show up in the past on mobile, so I sympathize with this post.

    it’s not working for me lately

    I’ll bring it back in the next version.

    All the tooltips got wiped out by some performance improvements recently and I’m putting them back in as-needed.

    Well, at least on a desktop environment you can hover your mouse above the counter and you will see the number of up and downvotes.

      It might just be a difficult target for large thumbs on touchscreen, a skill issue, but still would be a nice feature.

        I usually find myself zooming in a bit on mobile before tapping. That is more reliable. But certainly, I do wish it was just always displayed the separated vote values.

    It can be done on mobile but it’s really tricky. They should give it a bigger hitbox so that it’s easier to tap.

    EDIT: Turns out the tooltips were wiped out after all.

    EDIT: Ignore this. It works on PyLova, but not vanilla PieFed. I see PyLova has this feature as an optional setting anyway: Settings > Look & Feel > Vote display > Separated

    Funny enough, I had just started making a userscript to do this. Running this JavaScript on a page displays all the votes separated:

    document.querySelectorAll(".score").forEach(score => {
      //get individual upvote/downvote values
      let voteString = score.getAttribute("data-bs-original-title");
      let upString = voteString.split(", ")[0];
      let downString = voteString.split(", ")[1];
      //reformat vote string
      voteString = `+${upString} | -${downString}`;
      //replace combined vote string
      score.innerText = voteString;
    });

    image

    I can’t seem to get this to work reliably as a userscript. If anyone is experienced with making userscripts and can help fix this, I would appreciate it:

    // ==UserScript==
    // @name        PieFed vote split
    // @namespace   Violentmonkey Scripts
    // @match       *://quokk.au/*
    // @grant       none
    // @version     1.0
    // @author      -
    // @description 9/23/2026, 1:43:00 AM
    // ==/UserScript==

    //displays both upvotes/downvotes separately
    (function () {
      window.addEventListener('load', function () {
        document.querySelectorAll(".score").forEach(score => {
          //get individual upvote/downvote values
          let voteString = score.getAttribute("data-bs-original-title");
          let upString = voteString.split(", ")[0];
          let downString = voteString.split(", ")[1];
          //reformat vote string
          voteString = `+${upString} | -${downString}`;
          //replace combined vote string
          score.innerText = voteString;
        });
      });
    })();

      Looks like the only real difference is that pylova stores the information in the data-bs-original-title attribute instead of the title attribute.

        Sure looks that way, but making that change and running it on a PieFed page, it didn’t work right. I think it just affected the first vote total and that was it. It didn’t do anything to any of the other vote totals in the page.

        Your CSS trick above seems to be a better option for PieFed users, if it does work. I couldn’t get it to work on PyLova, even with substituting data-bs-original-title. It removes all vote totals but doesn’t actually replace them with anything.
