It’s hard to put more than 30 years of dedication, determination, and love for bats into a single post. What began with Amanda finding a little bat named Sunshine on a scorching Texas sidewalk eventually became a lifelong mission to give bats the care, respect, and understanding they deserve.

Amanda didn’t just rescue bats — she changed the way people looked at them. She spent years learning, teaching, advocating, and challenging the misconceptions surrounding these incredible animals. Along the way, she created a sanctuary where bats who have nowhere else to go can have a safe place to call home.

So today, we’re celebrating Amanda - the founder, the fighter, the teacher, and the person behind so much of what Bat World is today.

And, of course, we’re pretty sure the bats would agree that she deserves a very big birthday celebration!
