I live in a country where I’m not allowed to buy one. There’s a reddit post of how his Steam account got banned because he managed to get a Controller.

At least you get to wait.

When’d you get put on the list? I got the email saying I was also put on the list about 2 weeks ago and wondering what the wait’s like

Well, about the same time as you I guess. I threw my hat into the “random lottery” and got “waiting list”. I mean … We all saw about 10k in the waiting list and about 10k which got to buy. How long does it take to make 10k frames and ship it around the world? Can’t take more than 2 weeks, now can it?

Sorry, randomly ranting, half /s, half seriously why?

I just hope it goes better than Deck Verified.

There are way too many Deck Verified games that are absolutely unplayable.

Also quite a few ‘unsupported’ ones that work flawlessly out of the box, so it kind of evens out. But it should still be improved.

    Honestly this is impressive.

Valve has spent a lot of time trying to kill the Windows beast. These Frame standalone titles are running with an additional ARM translation layer on top (as I understand it – please correct me if wrong), so it isn’t trivial that they’re running locally on the device. There are implications for this down the road for other devices, considering how much ARM absolutely kills it versus x86 in the battery life department.

I’m planning to have a desktop rig plugged into the wall as long as I’m able, but it isn’t a stretch to say that the writing is on the wall in terms of power consumption (modulo any major breakthroughs on the x86 side).
