Do you know of any sources to check out Nemi in English? The official site seems offline, I think.
- if you go to nemi.no it forwards you to an official Facebook page with several strips on it.
- there’s a link there to https://www.gyldendal.no/skjonnlitteratur/tegneserier/serier/nemi which I believe is the Norwegian publisher. if you navigate here: https://www.gyldendal.no/forfattere/lise-myhre you can see a bunch of recent collections. If you look here: https://www.ark.no/bokserier/nemi-20050704121657_fridef you can see 5 collections for sale. They’re all in Norwegian, but I mention it in case you want to scan them and translate them, it should be pretty easy with modern tools.
- there were four collections published in English. Last I checked you could still find them on online retailers like Amazon tho you might have to buy used. I think Archive had a copy of the first one that you could “log in and borrow” online. oh yeah here it is: https://archive.org/details/nemi0000myhr/page/n1/mode/2up However, these are early strips and not really the best of Nemi.
Nemi hasn’t really gotten a fair shake in the US. I bet if you picked the “best of” over the years and made a good translation of the strips, you’d have a winner.
Thanks! Great resources. I also fou d this little helpful page with a bit of background history and a few representative strips:

Funny, nemi.no doesn’t work for me.
if you just want an unofficial collection of strips someone put a bunch on https://archive.org/details/nemi-strips/
I did a couple fan edits just for educational purposes, let’s see… try this: https://lemmy.world/search?q=nemi+fan+edit&type=Posts&listingType=All&page=1&sort=TopAll&titleOnly=true
From what I looked up in recent years, I don’t think the author’s ever made the comics digital, English releases are scarce, few people over in Norway sell these comics to buyers abroad, and nowadays’ mostly the Christmas specials that the author makes.
However, I also found a public contact email from the author while I searched, so maybe people could request for more official translations, or at least either a digital release or reprints of old comics.
I appreciate the comment. I looked briefly and found some archive translations, but I would rather keep looking for something more official.
I discovered Nemi earlier this year through a meme. I really like the humor. I guess it is my second favourite (chronologically) comic strip.
