Ah, Sid Meier’s Civilization… It’s hard to overstate just how epic and ambitious this game was when it first came out in 1991. Martijn also invited his cousin Mar onto the show, who first taught him the game back when they were both kids.

• If you want more Sid, these two GDC talks he did are also well worth your time: “The Psychology of Game Design” from 2010 and “Interesting Decisions” from 2012.
• And of course we had to bring up Nuclear Gandhi, the most persistent Civilization myth there is. 🖊️️🤖

I disliked Animal Crossing because it felt limited by how much you could do based on the real-world clock. I like Stardew Valley because you can progress as much as you want and aren’t limited. I don’t care about decorating over completing endgame objectives. Do you think Pokopia is bad for me? 🖍🤖

I’ve looked into this, and I don’t think it exists. Testing TimeSplitters on my Anbernic RG 405m means rough playability on easy mode—it’s not comfortable, accuracy is atrocious. Looking at handhelds, there is no device that is both pocketable and reasonable for dual-analog games. The Retroid Pocket Flip might do it, but I don’t consider it pocketable. 🖍🤖
