Good week for myself; managing to organise my workflow to reduce stress (and hopefully give me a boost for potential promotion in the next year), and the baby slept for a good chunk to let me play some games. Today I’ve got a 3h training run for a marathon later this year. Just need to not get bored during it!

Our 10 month old baby has been developing by leaps and bounds since learning to crawl last month, and it’s so exciting and fun to watch!

Partner is having a shit time though; she’s still on mat leave and feeling like work and friends are abandoning her. There’s precious little I can do since the causes of her low mood are all valid and I have less control over them than she does.

You sound like you are really busy!!

Are there baby groups your partner can go to? Baby massage, bookbug, that kinda thing!? Good place to meet people in the same place as you with new babies etc?

There are the new things, but I think it’s partly the feeling of being left behind that’s getting her down.

Yeah i can understand that. Maybe she should organise something to get people together? Have a dinner or go out for a walk. If her friends and workmates don’t have kids, then maybe you could take the baby for a while to let her have this time??

So much happens at the year milestones. Nursery best for all it sounds like. We had a great time, if you find a nice nursery, go for it is my advise. They are all nice really. But also enjoy it, these times don’t last forever (thankfully) but you will look back with fond memories

Having said that: I’ve found conversation and reasoning somuch easier to deal with. And remember: things will get better. As I have really strugglwd with early years, and will still do

Another shite week for me, but a long weekend to finish it off. 7 mile walk today with a wee ice cream and donut treat at the end!

Heh, reddit has a bot to auto post this thread. I probably could whip one up, but I don’t have the infrastructure to host it currently. That costs recurring cash, and I’ve no other real use, though a gemini server might be nice

7 mile a guid walk mind, fit’s that in aid o? An fit flavour yer ice cream? The wife says ah’m boring as ah gang fer vanilla usual like, but cannae be beat if ye ask me!

Lol that sounds complicated and was like another language to me!! Is it programming you do?

Just off work and wanted something to do so we walked a wee bit of the River Ayr way. Theres some cool gorges and ancient cup and ring marks and if you walk far enough along it theres a bit called Peden’s Pulpit where one of the Covenanters used to preach (if i’m remembering right!!)

I love vanilla too and usually pick it but we had a donut stack each which was 2 proper donuts with ice cream in between and sauce on top. I had bueno flavoured with nutella sauce and the other half had biscoff with toffee sauce!! Delicious!!

Too adventurous for me those flavours. And aye, Ayr and Galloway full of conventars and priest holes, some gruesome tales too. Cups and rings hypothesised as early grinding stones for crops right?

And aye, it’s the day job. But I try to be a bit of a renaissance man, do a bit of everything

I wish I knew more about the covenanters! I also don’t know much about cup and ring marks! I think they can be wide ranging like prehistoric art work or used in sacrificing animals, but really I’ve no clue! I just like that they are really old and someone did that hundreds of years ago and I can touch them now!!

I think if you work in IT you need to be able to do a bit of everything but programming sounds so tricky!!
