The only real disappointment here is the lack of UWB on the regular Pixel line.
They really don’t want to take on Air tags, do they?
What does that have to do with the Pixels? That’s a Bluetooth beacon thing, and it’s being added to all Androids through Play Services, including supporting Air Tags.
As far as hardware, it’ll be interesting to see if they announce anything on October 4th.
AirTags use UWB for more precise finding, but uses Bluetooth as a way to increase minimum levels of compatibility
Airtags (and similar systems) use “Ultra Wideband” to do their thing, which requires different hardware.
There may be Bluetooth involved in some implementations but the star of the show, that facilitates the accuracy, is UWB.
Ah. The UWB is only for direct position. It largely uses Bluetooth to be found and broadcast.
I thought they were going for 6.1" on the non-Pro model?
