Right in the very movie moment when they heard it, the words completely freaked out the sinister skin-walking aliens of John Carpenter’s action-horror classic They Live.

This movie is a banger. This was the highlight every year while watching WPIX 11 NY in the early 90’s during their annual Shocktober run of horror films during October.

Typically hosted by Elvira it was the flag that let us kids know the year was coming to a close and the best movies were about to be shown.

    Check it out: https://dinosaurdracula.com/blog/wpix-shocktober-halloween-marathon/

    The list is pretty good!

I don’t know if that’s your blog or not, but it hit me right in the memories!

Watching cable horror movies at night on a janky old TV and a cable splitter, all alone but feeling like you were part of a community of people you never met… I wouldn’t want to go back to those times now, but they do make great memories to revisit!

      Thanks for sharing!

“The line “I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I’m all out of bubble gum” was ad-libbed by Roddy Piper. According to director John Carpenter, Piper had previously written the line in his notebook of potential verbal bits during his wrestling career. He shared the notebook with Carpenter, and they agreed that this particular line fit the character and the film perfectly. Piper went on to use it at a wrestling match.” (from IMDB)

Saw this movie recently for the first time and this is totally the gay communist propaganda the right wing is terrified of. 10/10

“I’m here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I’m all out of bubblegum,” I think. I read the first few paragraphs, but they only allude to it in that section (honestly, how???), so I’m not sure if that’s exact.
