Taken on a Nikon Z8 with Sigma 150-600. 600mm f8 1/160 ISO 12,800. Noise removed with lightroom and 2 exposures composited with photoshop.

    That there needs to be two exposures to get both cloud and moon (nice sharp shot incidentally) with detail I know from experience, though I’ve not actually tried composing them. But would I be right in thinking the exposure with the moon’s detail was taken when the face was clear of cloud?

      Yea it was only slightly covered in the shot properly exposing the moon.

    Nice composite! Did you need to crop much? One of the things that’s always put me off trying astro is seeing massive stacks from IR filter free cameras mounted to a sky tracker and potentially a very long lens (eg telescope). This shot seems pretty accessible. Granted, I don’t have the MP to crop too heavily.

      I actually didn’t crop at all for this one. Just used a 600mm lens. Since the moon is so much brighter compared to stars the exposure is much shorter and a star tracker isn’t really needed.
