There wasn’t a Lemmy community yet for the impending RedditExodus, so I figured “why not be the change you want to see in the world,” and here we are.

To kick things off: Tell me your favorite working theory for the upcoming game.

Honestly I’d prefer a more narrow story rather than a galaxy spanning doomsday threat, just put me in that universe again and let me explore.

That being said I try and avoid speculation and I’m not gonna say it’s bad if it doesn’t match what I would like.

      Yay!

And for anyone looking at going back to Reddit in two days: turn back, the darkness must not be breached.

Do we know if it’s supposed to be more open world like Andromeda or back to a linear style?

I wish we knew!! I’m going to guess it’s probably somewhere in the middle, though.

Well, I try not to overthink/overhype nowadays, I’ll just wait patiently ;)

Yeah, I’m much the same way; I didn’t know what else to put as a conversation starter!

So I’ll give this one: To save on dev resources, the new Mass Effect will operate like a Five Nights at Freddy’s game, and our protagonist week be a pizza delivery person.

Um… I should have said hello erlier before even posting. Sorry for that and hello there.

About the new game - call me a pessimist. I’m in love with the trilogy since it was only ME1 back in my late youth. After BioWare kind of died, we had Andromeda. Which was a fun game, of course, but never even remotely cought my interest compared to the trilogy.

I hope a new game will do a better job of inspiring me.

I guess I’ll see it when I play it.

No need to apologize, you’re here now and we definitely need more people to post.

Thank you for joining! I’m super happy to see that there’s a wee bit of traction here.

As far as your theory, I was kinda thinking the same, actually. Maybe the search for Shepard (like we see with Liara picking up the N7 helmet) is tied to the search for figuring out WTF even happened up on the citadel; it’s not like Shep got a chance to radio ahead before deciding everyone’s fate. People are probably very confused. 😆

    Happy you made this.

I think my current working theory for the upcoming game is “Holy fuckbalks why did I not know this was a thing?!?!”

Is there any word as to the timeline for the release?

At this rate, it’ll probably come out as a 20th anniversary hype for Mass Effect’s original release.

our presense will never be complete without a community devoted to porn… because mass effect fans are just kinda like that.

in fact i find myself slightly ashamed that i have been in the mass effect fandom, a not insignificant part of that shame being due to the horny stuff that just seems inescapable.
