Heck yeah! I’ve been dropping news just to generate a little content and activity to the community. Let me know if there are sources I should add

Yeah, I was on the Lemmy.ml instance posting a lot more, and was possibly going to take over as moderator, but the site said something about not running .18 version and crashed right in the middle of me setting up 2FA. Now it says it doesn’t recognize my username or email. So I moved over here instead of fighting with it on matrix

Over on reddit, there was a thread automatically generated every day. Do you know of a way to do that on lemmy?

yes please! honestly, I’m looking for a community of fellow angelinos right now. I wish there was a matrix option that got any traction. I have a matrix room myself dedicated to la, but nobody has shown any interest.

edit to add, I think matrix is the better place for actual conversations, but it’s really frustrating when moderators and administrators go absentee.

not quite. think of it more like discord. it’s decentralized real-time chat.

people usually connect to it through a client called element. https://element.io

Oh! I liked the forum thread format more because it was easy to scroll back through the day and comment on things without feeling like too much of a conversational necromancer

Yes! To be honest, I rarely participated in them, but it was nice to find out what was going on around town. And I think it would help foster the new community here.
