I’ve been in Sydney for 12 years now and we’re up the Blue Mountains all the time. I’ve been putting off the Lockeys Pylon walk because there’s just so much else to see and do, but yesterday was the day.

And it was a beautiful perfect sunny winter day. So little haze that you could see the CBD towers. And I do love this side of the Grose Valley. Heaps of flowers out, with new wattle just coming in too.

The walk was great, but I think Dr Dark’s cave is my favourite spot in that area.

Where’s your pick in the Blueys?

Just realised the pic gets rotated for some reason! I’m going to have to edit it from a desktop later.

      Looks like an awesome spot!

We live in Newcastle and don’t get down there often enough, my favourite spot so far was a house that we stayed at in Mount Victoria on the edge of a cliff/valley. I think we went there mid 2020 and it was lightly snowing for most of one day.

I’ve only explored very little of the Blue Mountains but I thought that Jamison Creek was an interesting experience. I didn’t think it was possible to feel both safe and in danger.

In terms of easy lookouts with attached walks: Govett’s Leap in Blackheath has to be my fave. You drive right up to the lookout and there are great walks on either side.

My wife and I do Leura Cascades and associated walks around about once a week - but we live within walking distance 😋

I’ve not done Lockley’s Pylon, but I’ve spent a lot of time around Grosse Valley over the last couple of months, just doing day walks

I think the Fortress Pools photos I saw on r/sydney a while back got me interested but I haven’t done it because I usually walk alone and it’s supposed to be a bit of an adventure

My pick is probably Grand Canyon because it is so different to many of the Blue Mountains walks, but it does get very busy.

I’ve also done Victoria Falls to Burra Korain a couple of times which is way quieter. The tracks into/through the Valley are mainly closed at the moment, but I spoke to some runners on the trail who were on their way out of the valley having come from Medlow Bath to Vic Falls
