No one in any of my friend/community circles ever plays cod anymore. Not just because it’s an insanely overpriced game, that’s exactly the same every year, but just because there are way more fun experiences in life, than listening to gamer words in the lobby.
The last one I bought with my own money was BO3, and even that was already a waste. I’ve received pretty much all but the last one for free, since then, and still didn’t find any interest in it. Neither has my brother, who had thousands of hours sunk into MW2/3 alone
I know this is true for you, but it’s incredibly successful still. I know some people that play it, but it’s literally the only game they play.
you really can’t under estimate the silent majority here, they play their game even if we aren’t very excited by it.
Honestly speaking, I’m not even sure about that. A lot of people who still play CoD regularly say that “gaming is dead, and all the studios are washed up”, while still playing it every day. It’s both an addiction issue, refusal to let go, and unwillingness to try anything else
silent majority, those aren’t the thoughts of most people who play COD. you don’t hear their thoughts, they aren’t talking about it on the internet. they just play COD after work for a bit. that’s their relax time.
Yeah, the only people that I know who still play it are my friends younger kids. But even they are branching out more.
Same reason Madden is around after 35 years and 2 years after John Madden’s death?
There are a group of players who ONLY play these games.
I still play but its only with my sister. We joke around and keep it to a party chat. I’ve tried playing by myself and it never feels fun but I do see why so many keep coming back. It has found its niche and it continues to double down on it so if you love the mechanics of it, its arguably the best fast paced shooter of its class.
I have some friends that only play Warzone. They don’t even like MW2 classic multiplayer. And they don’t play any other Playstation games.
I’ll one up you. I have a friend that has a PS5 and only plays NBA2k and COD. I asked if he was gonna play Spiderman this month. His response? “What’s that?”
He’s never heard of Horizon, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima…no PS exclusives. I can understand liking COD or NBA, but to have never even heard of any other high profile games…I don’t get it.
