I will be traveling to Africa in a month or so. I have a large DLSR camera but it is a little bulky to bring on a trip (it was given to me so I have used it a lot around home but not on a large trip).
I have owned a couple of compact cameras in the past and have liked the size and portability. But unfortunately both of them have broke over the years.
I was wondering if anyone had suggestion of a decent compact camera under $200 or so? I good optical zoom would be nice. Bluetooth or wifi photo upload would be great too but not completely necessary.
Any suggestions?
To be honest at that price point you’ll probably have a hard time beating a smart phone unless that one is old and has a really crappy camera.
As the other commenter said, smartphones are really hard to beat. If you still want a camera instead, I would look at used mirror less cameras like Sony Nex series or a micro 4/3s camera.
The Sony will be larger but that lens system will definitely continue. The micro 4/3s I’m not sure if it is still recording proper support.
A Sony Nex C3 will be tiny with the typically included 16-50 lens, and you can get great lenses for it down the line. Technically you can adapt most DSLR lenses to it, but I wouldn’t recommend that at all. If you don’t mind manual focus you can get really cheap fast or wide lenses.
