Despite appearing on the soundtrack to The Lost Boys, the song’s lyrics do not specifically reference vampires, as it was composed before McMahon had seen any footage from the film. After hearing the track, director Joel Schumacher commented: “You nailed my theme song to The Lost Boys! I can’t believe you wrote this without seeing a frame of film!”. McMahon additionally explained: “I always say that if I’d have seen the film first, I would probably not have written ‘Cry Little Sister’. I didn’t want the song to be specific to the vampire. I wanted it to be about the longing for family from a rejected youth’s perspective, which I went through myself and that many of us have felt.” wikipedia
Gerard McMann is a performing name of Gerard McMahon, aka G Tom Mac
I always thought that movies sound track was better than the movie. But as 80s movies go, it stands up to the test of time.
I think the song’s taken on a life of its own (it’s risen from the dead!), it’s been covered a couple times and is still played by DJs. Personally, I’ve never even seen the movie.
It’s probably the best movie with The Cory’s. It’s about a single mom moving to the Beach town with her two boys. The older boy gets mixed up with a gang of young vampires. The little town is the murder capital of the USA BTW . The younger boy discovers the comic book store employees are vampire hunters and they join forces to destroy the vampires and I’ll leave it to you to decide if it’s worth watching.
the comic book store employees are vampire hunters
Sounds like a win! (as long as a pack of teenage werewolves don’t show up…)
